The भगवद्गीता Bhagavad Gita adds a heartfelt approach to Yoga, complementing the clinical precision of पातञ्जल्य योगसूत्र Patanjali's Sutras.
समत्वम् Samatvam is literally equanimity, सम Sama is same, and त्वम् Tvam is its essence. However, like all such deep words in Sanskrit the word must be quoted in context to appreciate its complete meaning.
समत्वम् Samatvam is a prominent word in the भगवद्गीता Bhagavad Gita (2.48) and it means:
"Being established in the practice of Yoga, drop all attachments, even to the success of the outcome, and that equanimity is considered Yoga"
In this state, also called being in the state of Yoga, the primordial tendencies of Sattva, Rajas, Tamas gunas in complete balance. (need to explain)
